My friend has just bought himself another boat. The boat is really nice but he's having problem starting and stopping his heating. I had a look online for him and discovered the various trouble codes that apppear to relate to this 701 / 10 controller. Listed are codes from 04 - 99. When I followed the instruction leaflet I brought up the 5 error codes stored. they were 003 - 00 - 127 - 00 - 255. This is confusing because none of these codes are listed. Advice anyone?

This is the unit that I think may be responsible. I wonder if it's possible to reset the unit to default mode.

Just an update on the heater problem. Been on my mates boat again this morning and found if I firmly pressed in the bottom right manual switch, the heater starts. Vice-versa for stopping it. Yesterday, I checked the trouble codes, but as I mentioned, they didn't seem to make sense so recorded them and the wiped them. Checked DaTA again today and there are no results.

Given the above, I'm wondering if the problem is a worn out or otherwise dodgy button. I know it's not connected, but I recently had this with a TV remote control. Fixed it with a new one. Thing is of course that the TV remote cost a tenner, this unit is £148 on ebay.

Anyone had a similar problem on this 701 controller?

Many thanks

Tv remotes are easy to fix by taking it apart and cleaning under the rubber buttons with switch cleaner, not sure about your heater.

I can't be the only one that finds both the programming and code reading of that type Eberspacher remote really difficult, even with the instructions in front of me.....

Not a similar problem, mine (12 years old) just went dead so I replaced it. If you are thinking of doing the same, the new ones come with a white connector with round pins - my old one had a black connector with flat pins.

If this is the replacement, what is the H-kit logo that's mentioned?

Eberspacher Heater Easystart 7 Day Timer Controller 221000341500

This controller is only compatible with Airtronic heaters fitted with the latest version control unit which are identified by the H-Kit logo.

I have just had a similar problem with my 701. After much head scratching, I bit the bullet and replaced the ECU . Taking the opportunity, I also gave it a service replacing all the filters and gaskets. It now works perfectly.

The ECU in the 701 or the one in the heater itself? I wouldn't know how to begin. If I choose to replace the 701 what is the modern 'straight swap'?
Does anyone know about the H-tag logo?
The ECU in the heater. I watched all the various YouTube videos on the subject before proceeding. In reality it was very straightforward. German engineering at its best.

Replacing an ECU on one of these heaters is not something I’ve tried but I’m not certain they are that reliable however it might be that an email to the specialist on line who seems to sell varnishes might be required to set out steps need to replace that old701 with the more modern controller unit ?

I recently had a problem with the same controller on my D4. The Instant Heat button had stopped working meaning I had to program the period I wanted heat for, and then it would work (and programming these controllers is a nightmare)! I replaced it with one of these controllers: You are being redirected...

It's much simpler, although you have to wire the plug together yourself, which is straight forward but a bit of a faff.
