Can anyone help, I'm looking for a manual for the the 701 timer, I have the operating instruction downloaded from the Espar website, but I can't find the full manual.

I've tried a Google search, searching the Espar and Eberspacher sites and a search of the ybw forums but no luck.

The Espar website seems to be difficult to navigate around and I've opened almost every file in the "controller" section with out any luck.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Only operating instructions are produced, no manual for the things at all as they are just replaced on the rare occasions they go up the pictures, if you are looking for wiring details they are usually contained in the heater worshop manuals.

Eberspacher timers and the wiring of seem to be treated in a rather hit and miss way in the manuals. .
Is yours the 'proper' 701 with the blue logo or the Bt version with the white logo. Do you have the correct connector? I have wired up several of these so let me know if you still have problems.

Thanks David2452 and pcattercall ,if they don't exist then, that's a very good reason when I can't find them!

I have a genuine Eberspacher unit, not a BT version, I was looking for the Fault codes, since the unit has "diagnostics".

It's connected to a Hydronic D5 (about 6 years old) and I'm still getting my head around how to get the best out of it.

I've got the Technical Description/Installation Instructions etc which has the fault codes as read by a "Fault Code Retrieval Device".

I assume these will be the same as read but the 710 timer, which has "Diagnostic Capabilities", what ever than means.

All the fault codes I have seen on recent Ebers are the same.
The wiring to the 701 will be blue/white ( diagnostic) yellow ( trigger wire) red/slate and brown white ( the temp setting control wires) and red and brown. I think the 701 has a tail and the wires should correspond to those but I seem to recall these may not be exact matches. ( I haven't a 'proper' 701 here to compare)

The fault codes are listed here http://www.letonkinoisvarnish.co.uk/Fault_codes.html . Quite why they're on a varnish website is a mystery to me.

Hi ghostlymoron. When I got too old to demonstrate le Tonkinois on shows, and handed everything over to brother Brian, brother Roy and I set up the Eber section as a thank you to my many boating customers who also use Eberspachers. Now it has gone global, and we are still extending it. We hope to cover Eber water heaters in the future, but as we don't use them ourselves we have as yet no practical experience on them. Can't afford to buy working models to cut apart as site generates no income, but if you happen to find a dead or terminally ill D5W or similar lying in the gutter somewhere, we'd love to hear from you. Address on website. Cheers.
