where are the bargains, old gps £170 ,yeoman plot £170, same guy, thought we were struggling,c85 cmaps over £50 each for locals, at these prices £250, to go from clyde to oban,on 15 year old maps, come on guys ,do we have to wait on the bailleifs till prices come down, wait till the bill comes from the yard for winter storage, plenty stuff going cheap then, things wont be worth tuppence.

I noticed these inflated prices last night, maybe somebody "ringing" them? I tried selling stuff before xmas and all I got was washers!!

I agree, eBay is a bizarre experience nowadays. Stuff often sems to sell for more than it can be purchased elsewhere from a "real" retailer. Recently bought a camera lens from a camera shop and saw it for twice the price on eBay.

When I have sold stuff on eBay I have been suprised as to how much I have got for it, often quite close to what I paid for it new. I cannot quite understand how folk decide to price their bids but I guess that once you get involved in an auction there may be a tendancy to chase the object of one's desire to an inflated value. I certainly did this once or twice before realising.

Ebays not what it used to be,but you can still get the odd bargain, last summer i bought a Garmin 72 hand held gps brand spanking new for 75 quid.

When buying something on ebay it can, on a few limited occasions be like buying from a market trader on a bomb site when you can't even see the sellers face.

One must be aware of the real value of anything including the postage before bidding for anything.

Bargains can be had but only by looking and being diligent.

I have just taken delivery this afternoon from a seller on ebay of 12 Sikaflex 221 400ml sausages, in date, at a total cost of £24. including tracking delivery. They were on sale a 'buy now' or 'best offer' basis.

Ebay can be good or bad depending how you use it but one has to be careful.

Quite often I find items on sale from UK / EU based sellers at far higher price than the same article ex Hong Kong.
I was skeptical of buying from HK then thought - why not - give it a try. No problem, only one article failed shortly after receipt. But not worth hassle. It's cheaper to just buy another at their prices.

I assume that UK / EU sellers re-pricing HK articles are preying on those who don't trust HK sellers ?

I have to say that I don't enjoy the browsing of ebay as I used to. There's so much rubbish padding it out now and silly prices.

Agree.... just tried selling a bunch of old model railway kit and was amazed at the prices people paid for some of it. The cheaper low quality stuff sold for almost as much as the good quality collectors bits. Quite baffling, but hey...

Half of it went overseas... perhaps weak pound makes it a bargain? I have found eBay good for dyneema off-cuts etc but the electronics seem to be very overpriced
