Ebay Furuno NX300 Navtex

Ah, so they exist, mistery solved

we had a similar discussion a while ago, as I wanted (and did indeed) to buy a NX300 from the US, where it could be bought a lot cheaper, and there was the suspicion that several different models (mono and bi-freq) were marketed. Probably the fact that it is sold as NX300 in the US and NX300D in the UK.

I asked the seller, and looked through the Owner's manuals of the various models and they were absolutely identical, it seemed that the same item is sold as NX300 in the US, NX300D in the UK, NX300DPRO in France; etc

Anyway, in the end I bought this NX300 from the US and it is a dual frequency one.
Indeed, it has "FREQ" written on the front button, beware of the asterisk then -.;)

Hmm, sneaky sales person I would say as he links to the leaflet of the dual frequency model.

I've got a dual frequency version (never use the alternate frequency though). It works great. The receiver is very sensitive and gets much more forecasts then you need.
Luckily you can filter the unwanted.

I want one of these sets, and was tempted to bid for it, but I assume you wouldn't get the maker's warranty with it. [It may even have expired]. The current bid is £233 [plus £10 postage] and you could probably buy a new one with warranty for 10% off the list price, which I think would come to about £315. Is it worth going without a warranty to save £72?

The only sensible remark I could make here is that I have (by now) four pieces of Furuno equipment (GPS, Repeater, Navtex and Radar) and none of them has given me even the slightest hint of malfunctioning.

I would say the stuff in general is very well build, however sometimes a bit 'old fashioned' compared to other models. I'm not saying that is a bad thigh though.

Cheers,

Arno
