Hi folks, have a look at this in the for sale section.

Ebay, Ebay, Ebay
Is it just me, or is the for sale forum looking more like the boat parts section of Ebay ?

More Ebay links than anything lately.

I've found the For Sale section a very efficient medium for buying and selling. It doesn't bother me that other sellers post links to e-bay. It's the modern way.

And as for those who advertise their boats for sale in their signature, in order to circumvent the forum's 'For Sale' rules - well, I don't think any further comment is necessary.
It's not even a signature - it's part of the text of the message made to look like a signature (for some reason).

I see nothing wrong in sign posting ebay ads in the For Sale section. Ebay has good dispute resolution mechanisms and there have been a number of unsatisfied complainants on these fora from the For Sale board ...

Sorry to hear about your bad experience on ebay. I've only ever had disputes as a buyer and in both cases the dispute was resolved very quickly once ebay got involved.

TBH I haven't seen loads of complaints on here, but I've been aware of a few over the years - just thought it was worth pointing out a difference really.

you dont want to sell something here that is not genuine.
ebay you get a black mark
here they Crucify you :D

E-bay is full of strangers, this forum, despite the huge number of registered members, is mostly a smallish number of active people most of whom I would happily regard as friends. Not that different from yer average Yot Club in fact.

In the past, I have had stuff sent before I have paid & I have also paid before it is sent. Not had a problem yet - but e-bay has produced some dodgy buys from time to time.

I will buy off here, but I WILL NOT follow an e-bay link - that's been my policy for a long time.

From time to time I use ebay, always for small value items.

A few months ago somebody was selling some "little used" Gul gear and got the hump when I asked the age and style of the kit - all I was wanting to do was see what the sizing was. The chap lost a sale! Some odd people about.

I agree. If I want to buy bits from eBay, I'll, erm, go onto eBay. But I do see a value in possibly drawing peoples attention to items on there, should they wish to bid.

Simple solution...YBW now carries 3 sections in the market place section. For Sale, Wanted, and eBay links. Job done.

And whilst the administrators are at it, ditch all the locked topics from years ago, and move the market place section further up the board.

Simples.

Perhaps we should get our Web Site Supremo, Laura on this, if she has the skill. :D
