Good morning everyone,

Thought that many of you will be thinking about the Easter weekend and sailing. Hope it is useful to know the thoughts of Weatherweb.net at this time.

We are currently looking at two possible scenarios. One is that low pressure remains close by the east with a fairly strong and unstable N-NW airflow. This would bring showers, some of them heavy, especially to east coasts, whilst western coasts and Ireland would be drier.

The other scenario, and the one we are currently favouring, is that a ridge of high pressure will build from the west. This will lead to lighter winds and less chilly conditions. However, with low pressure drifint through France and more NE flow will be established over the Channel bringing fresher (F5) winds here.

Its all still a little in the air (excuse the pun) but our high pressure thoughts are now starting to be backed up by the major computer models in the UK and Canada. America GFS model (which is the one you will see on most internet sites) is still more unsettled.

We'll see!

Best wishes,
Simon

I'd like to place an order for fine weather for a gentle Easter Cornish cruise.
I'll take delivery from Thursday onwards.

(We'll pack our oilies anyway!)

You might like to fix the weather up down here in NZ while you are at it. Forecast is for 10C tommorrow and that is about as cold as it ever gets in mid winter here - and wife and I are going sailing for 2 weeks from Easter /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif.

If you send me your favourite lady sheep friend's phone number I will pass your message on to her for you /forums/images/icons/smile.gif.

I get a bit of a giggle over my poor fellow NZ hobbits pushing the scenes in the Lord of the Rings as being their beautiful scenery - as far as I can tell, apart from a few scenes, most of what is in the film is too contrived to represent anything. Nice places in most countries as far as I am concerned - but have to say that apart from the fact the weather can be nasty, the sail from Wellington to Nelson is one of the more interesting sailing routes around in temperate climates and wife, ships cat and I are looking forward to it.

Have a nice Easter all.

Many thanks Tom.

Is a sail to Nelson for 2 yearly lift and bottom done plus a few other minor jobs, then back just spending 2-3 days each way ambling there and back. Will post a little story about all sometime during or after it.
