We left Marconi sailing club at 1 pm Saturday and sailed to stone point and when we got their found not much going on at the beach so we still pulled up behind the barge which was anchored just of the beach and dropped our anchor witch let go straight away and we drifted towards another boat so moved 200 meters on an in front of the barge and re tried and this time it held fast .
we started to cook our BBQ food on the boat and sunk a few rum and cokes
a few boat set anchor for the night and we could hear a bit of music from a boat near the beach so we turned our radio off and listened to their tunes in the back ground , dusk came and the tunes died down and all was silent .... then I could hear some fiddles and a organ so I found the binoculars had a look round and it was a band on the barge as they finish the first track we all gave a clap and a cheer and they played on for a few more ,
it is not my type of tune but in the background at the location and time it was nice
a few fireworks popped up in the other direction over buy coopers beach and the night was set ...and onto bed time
this was our first time over night sleeping on anchor as opposed to moorings , and we did wake up a few times in the night to cheek all was ok
all went well , got up in the morning around 8 am and we were the only ones left Sunday morning .
so we had bacon rolls and coffee and set of for Mersea, to the beach hut area to meet the kids and grandkids
We dropped the anchor and took the rib ashore to spend some time sunbathing on the beach the sun took its time to pop out but it turned up
in the end
We left the beach and as time and tide wasn't in our favor we went the short distance to West Mersea to our mooring number two up by ray island and left the Westerly 25 their and took the rib back to Marconi

We were there. I saw you come in, but did not know you were one of us - You should have come ashore and introduced yourself. It was a good very warm evening and very pleasant being on Mersea stone

I was going to come ashore but had food to cook 
I am always around steeple and Mersea as we don't get many miles in each time we go on the boat , We would like to go up to the stone point " pirates BBQ " but I will have to have a Friday off to get up their in time I think .
I will be at Mersea for the party this Saturday as my westerly 25 ( Thursday's Child ) is on its mooring up Ray Channel at the moment in readiness

Its time to beat the number of cruisers that sailed in the 1st Blackwater & Colne Challenge earlier in the season. That was 45.
On 27th July starting from the Nass at 1030 the Mersea Clubs are organising event No2 and we're hoping for boats from the East Coast Forum, and from Tollesbury & Bradwell to join in the fun and swell the fleet size that has boats from almost every other club on the estuary.
If you're in the crouch, why not sneek through the Ray and join us for a weekend.
The event is about fun on the water and there will be results for White Sail racing, Local Handicap and IRC hotshots, followed by a BBQ, live music and shore side games at the Yacht club afterwards.

[h=3]Visiting Yachtsmen to West Mersea[/h] Visiting yachtsmen are welcomed to West Mersea and will be asked to pay for their temporary mooring. The money collected is used to invest in improvements to the harbour by, for example, improving buoyage.
The charges are as follows:
Short term mooring up to five hours £ 5.00
Overnight mooring
Vessels up to 33 feet /10.05 metres £10.00
Vessels over 33 feet/10.05 metres £15.00
I can get a night in Tollesbury along side with electricity for a tenner with the Transeurope deal
