East Coast liveabord

Percy Blandford designed canoes mostly. His most famous sailboat was the Lysander, and it is not one of those. The design looks very Jack Holt to me

Percy Blandfords grand daughter has just been awarded a lifetime ban from the YBW MODS, for promoting a book in memory of PB. it was a small 200 book run, others here blatantly promote their goods & services with impunity.

It does seem a bit OTT, but I am not sure that the granddaughter has a life time ban, it just seems her advertising post was pulled
A lot of people here will remember Percy Blandford, designer of many home build boats from various canoes to the Foamcrest dinghy & Lysander mini-cruiser.

The Facebook site of this thread's title is worth a look if only for nostalgia.

A certain other forum has banned PB's grand-daughter for life for mentioning his book she has just completed and published !

Seems harsh and strange, when delivery companies, brokers and chandlers all get to mention their businesses there but this book is more a labour of love than any profit minded enterprise.

The other place has not exactly come well out of it on Facebook, I have mentioned this place and how it came about !

As for the lifetime ban - a stupid decision by people who should know better

To the OP - every marina I've berthed in has had liveaboards. Start by getting to know the management, get your mail sent to post box service then after a while ask if you can have mail delivered. I think marinas like a few liveaboards, it helps security. Even Brighton who say no liveaboards at all have many boats that will never go to sea and a number of yacht post boxes.

Nice to see my words being used !

David of Mersea,

on the Facebook ' Percy Blandford Appreciation Society ' site, Diane shows the notice from YBW; ' Date you may be re-accepted - Never ' !

Absolutely disgusting, does the moderator involved know anything at all about boats, or proportion ? Mention a Not For Profit book on a subject of great interest to members - lifetime ban.

Boat delivery, Brokerage, Chandlery businesses - carry on mentioning your profit making companies...

I have just seen that, and the punishment does seem rather OTT. I can't help wondering if the mods are saying the ban on publicising commercial products, even for charity, has been banned for ever, rather than the poster being banned. Perhaps the mods will clarify

That is what is required here.
There is a blatant advertising video on SB actually asking for youtube hits to for financial gain

Just guessing as I haven't had time to read through the other thread fully yet, but I think we'll find the ban is due to the first and only post being a sort of advertising one. Think this contravenes the spamming rules or whatever they want to call it. Either noticed by the mods when allowing the first post (unlikely) or someone over in SB hit the notify button (more likely) which would reinforce my feelings about SB. One of my last threads on SB managed to draw out some of our less pleasant members over there, since then I decided the place was so unpleasant I wouldn't bother with it

Ban for life confirmed, how strange

Even wimmins breast pix would get you a lesser ban What ever happened to that nice chap Kim

I would have thought a marina owner would welcome one or two liveaboads to keep an eye on things for security

Yeah they want them but the council says "no"..
Ring levington and ask them? Youll get a "no!'
However i lived there for 4 years and caught 3 different attempts of stealing from boats there...
