Fellow East Coast Forumites. Being an old git I am considering becoing an old git gaffer after years of suffering from the pleasures of the Bermudan rig. Has anyone got a Cornish Crabber 24 (post 1993), Cornish Crabber 24 Mk V or a Cornish Crabber 26 on the East Coast that they wouldn't mind me having a look over? I am in Suffolk and I want to see one before travelling a few hundrad miles to see any of the ones presently for sale. I could buy you lunch.

Have you tried the Cornish Crabbers Club website? Oddly they don't have an 'Area' which covers any of the East Coast but you could try emailing the "Rest of UK" contact. They also have a forum which you could join & ask in. Also if you do FaceBook there is a group (link on that page).

If you search in the Boat Register of the Old Gaffers Association OGA - index there are many registered. If you are a member you can then see the owner details and where they are located. . If you are going to buy a gaffer anyway suggest you join

I'm sure there's at least one at my club on the Medway, but that's a distance for you.

If you don't get a better offer, let me know and I'll copy this to the club message board.

Thanks, I might get back to you.

Just an update. Tried the Crabbers Forum. But only one helpful reply re plus's and minus's in Chichester. Might try Old Gaffers next. It seems they don't travel well (a bad sign?)

Of the 15 OGA Member's boats that sailed all the way around Britain together in 2023, two were Crabber 26s and one was a Cornish Shrimper. OGA - RBC60 Boats

I think David Morris at Tollesbury has a Mk 1 Crabber for sale. David has an excellent reputation as a broker and I know him well. A good bloke all round. There is a video on his website. I'm not sure where the boat is berthed now.

Thanks Serin, but I am now too old and soft to suffer the slight discomfort of the limited accommodation of the Crabber Mk 1! I'm sure 10 years ago I might have gone for it.

That's mine & I believe sold as of yesterday. Is currently at Titchmarsh. Can't remember seeing a C24 locally in this area - quite a few P30's though - a friend had one & extremely comfortable compared to the Mk1/Mk2's. We do have a bilge keeled CY24 on our pontoon.
