Early sailing legends who are still alive and my Godson!

I know Frank Dye is no longer with us, however I can not find any obituary to his wife Margaret, so I assume she is still alive?

I believe so. Havn't been in contact with her for a few years, but there was someone here that was (can't find the post with the name). Sounds as though she has stopped sailing her Wanderer from Hickling.

Roger Taylor.

Mark Chisnell (great sailor and author of fiction and non-fiction)

Bear Grylls (did a rib crossing of North Atlantic)

The Chandlers? But I don't know how much of their book is about sailing and how much about being held capture.

What a great idea for a present too.

I've not met Anthony Steward but his tale of sailing round the world in a 19ft OPEN boat is an interesting one. When at sea if I think things are hard, I find it helps to reflect on the level of adversity he must have endured.

You've just missed Charlie Stock.....but in my book Dylan Winter is right up there....if you haven't see his work it's on www.keepturningleft.co.uk great guy and inspiration to all depth, and financially, challenged sailors.

Cheers

Yes, but has Dylan written a book? I have his films from day 1 and would have mentioned him, as you say, but then I didn't know if he had a book out.

If he has, I'll buy it. I'm sure he writes with the wit and knowledge that is shown in his films.

No book specifically about sailing but he has written a couple about his adventures on horseback here and in the USA.

If you buy one of Dylan's boxed videos I'm sure he'd sign it for you and include a little message .

Cheers.
