Are the perils of using E10 in an outboard like my old mariner 2.5 2 stroke overstated or should be buying the high octane E5 premium stuff?

To give my outboards the best possible chance of running I always use E5 premiun grade petrol and this will be fine when pumps change to E10 for their normal grade petrol.

I've used Honda's fuel stabiliser for several years. My Mariner/Mercury/Tohatsu 3.3 seems to thrive on it.

Yes...then drain as fuel will still be in the pipes and thats where some of the e10 issues are with fuel lines

There's nothing wrong with being over-cautious and draining all ...

I don't - I just run dry and then close of vents .... engines go on the storage rail in the barn till next season. They even stay with fuel in their tanks.

Next season - I top up tank with fresh to mix with whatever remains from previous year .... Choke and pull through 2 - 3x ... I find they fire but wont run .. I disengage choke .. pull and away they go.

The fire once on choke - I find is always .... start - mid and end season ...
