I have had the same Dyneema shackle on my genoa sheets for a number of years now. The outer sheath has faded noticeably in the Greek sun but other than that it has remained perfect.I did say remote.
I look at everything by asking this sort of question:
If your genoa sheet comes off what happens? If your jackstay comes off and you get hit by a big green wave while you are up at the pointy end what happens?
I am a big fan of soft shackles, but not everywhere.
p.s. I have a cow hitch on my genoa sheets.
