Dyneema Cruise- Kingfisher or English Braids?

I plan change my Main Halyard and Main Sheet from 12mm Braid to 10mm Dyneema Cruise.
The cheapest option seems to be Kingfisher with English Braids a little more expensive. Does anyone have views on either of these?
 
i changed some of mine as well but didnt go downsize ,, your poor hands
I’d get the hands issue for sheets, but for halyards I don’t really use my hands except for the first half of the mainsail hoist and move to winch as soon as it gets hard. I’m not saying I could cope with piano wire but not far off.
 
Not sure on the spec of the ropes you are looking at but make sure they have a woven core not parallel fibres. We had a dyneema cruise spec halyard that snapped with no warning. The outer braid was perfect but the parallel fibres inside had wasted to nothing at the failure point
 
Not trying to talk you downmarket but, myself, I like Kingbraid from Kingfisher Ropes, finding it a good cost/performance compromise between ordinary braid and Dyneema,
 
And, as a counterpoint to the post above, I have only had poor experience with Kingfisher: the rope twisted dreadfully and chafed really fast as well as being stretchier than I had expected for braid-on-braid polyester (my boat had Kingfisher Yankee and Staysail sheets as delivered and it took me less than a season to replace them with Marlow).

Since then I've used English Braids for cruising dyneema for halyards and have been delighted with them., going down a size for less stretch and lowered friction. I think you get what you pay for.

Will the clutches on the mast grip 10mm Dyneema? it's quite a bit more slippery, well ours is.
 
Hi all - wanted to revive this as I’m now making the same decision: Kingfisher vs English braid for cruise/dyneema core to replace all halyards and running rigging.

Cannot afford Marlow etc. and so it’s down to these two cheaper options or others’ polyester braid-on-braid.

Don’t need high performance (42ft cruiser with in mast furling) and want to keep our old clutches so not interested in going down a diameter. Clutches are pretty worn so don’t know if Rota (or other cheaper racing dyneemas) would slip. Doubt I could afford all racing dyneema anyway.

I get the impression that English Braids is slightly better thought of. Am I on the right lines (excusing the pun!)?

The breaking specs for Marlow Polyester Braid-on-braid are the about the same as for Kingfisher at a size larger (i.e Marlow 8m = 2,360kg (min), Kingfisher 10mm = 2345kg ). In fact the Marlow Polyester double braid has higher breakloads than similarly sized Kingfisher Cruising Dyneema.

Or can this be explained as is difference in the measurement method?
