Dylan Winter

For what he wants to do i don't understand why he doesn't put his hand in his own pocket for the Fisher, and bludge for the making of the films, from memory he wasn't skint. But i've come to know many like him (my parents age), fantastically middle class-types who plead poverty (eat Tesco's value food and drive a Fiat Uno) yet whos lifestyle tells a different story, i'd imagine like most of his ilk he's sat on a fat pension pot both state & private so he won't starve.

FWIW i've chucked money Dylans way before as i enjoyed his films, but I think the problem going forward (looking at the competition to get monetized) theres no tits in his films like La Vag & Delos so you're limiting your audience to fellow miserable old cunz who from experience are as tight as he appears to be.

I think thats where his frustration probably comes from when he has a public dig at people for not paying plus I wasn't impressed with the latest, pop-a-quid-in-the-box-and-i'll-tell-you-the-rest-of-the-story - that smacks of desperation to me and will harm his reputation, i guess he won't be able to do as many films as before..................Hey ho.

If he’s anything like Leo (Tally Ho) then I think I’ll subscribe THEN consider donating.

I haven’t caught up with the last two Tally Ho’s but I think that I read that between fitting stem to stern over a 60’ length he was 1/8”” out !

With no demands for payment and accusations of being a freeloader whether you pay or not.
 
I watched a few of his videos on YouTube, and I noticed his large garden of his thatch cottage, but this doesn't mean he has pots of money. Anyway I stopped watching the videos because they were not to my taste. I did object to be called a free loader for not paying to view.
 
I think it's unfair to say there are tits on la vagabond and Delos. Both sites have pretty girls in bikinis but there's no nudity shown. Their videos are produced and edited to a higher standard than KTL despite them being amateurs. Their locations and activities are also more interesting.

I also find Delos and a lot of the other guys very positive, I have a happy feeling after watching. DW made me quite gloomy, it was like sailing with one of the old boys down the sailing club.
 
I reiterate:

Dylan Winter and Rocna - 2 of the best known brands on this forum - and best known for the wrong reasons. In Rocna's case they sorted the issues and everyone forgave and forgot (or is it the other way round?). Rocna now is, expensive, despite have the same manufacturing costs as Delta or Kobra. Give Dylan a bit of time......

I watched one video for a few minutes and was bored, very quickly - but I have a very short attention span.

Mention has been made of other vid makers - I don't watch them either.

If you were a marketing consultant to the marine industry - there might be some, unexpected, lessons in there. I have not distilled the lessons (not being a guru) - but I do find it fascinating - which is why I add my 'views' to the thread I'm looking for erudition.

I’ve just checked back through his blogs and he didn’t have the Centaurs donated.

It’s one thing to criticise a forumite for their endeavours but it’s very bad form to spread lies and innuendo about them.

As I recall, the first one was given to him and he split the proceeds with the original owner when he sold it. The second one was sold to him at a knock down price to encourage the project and then resold at a substantial profit about a year later. Does that accord with your detailed research?

+1 on that. I have contributed substantially over the years and love Dylan's style, but I balk at being forced to pay to know the end of the story. Also I was mildy disappointed in the one video I paid to see in HD. No music, hasty editing, poor Google map bits.

I thought he bought his first one at a nominal fee, I can't recall any "arrangement" with the second one.

But it's you that should be checking your facts before spreading bile.

You seem to have done your detailed research on how much he made on downsizing his home...

Nope. That was someone else at the time when he (a) made the move and (b) pleaded poverty. Mr Winter responded, as I recall, by accepting the figures but explaining that KTL was a business project and had to support itself. Which, as I have said, is absolutely fine by me. As long as it's legal and doesn't scare the horses I couldn't care less how anyone else earns their living.
