Hi people out there. Im a new member to this,So go easy on me.
Can any one help me. I have just purchased a 42ft Dutch Steel boat called a NEW HOLLAND. Its identical to a STEVENS. But i cant find a Web site or any contact numbers for this Boat.
Also the boat has corroded keels,Which im going to replace but ive been told they are oil filled. Does anyone know if this is correct, And if so How much oil do they have.Hope somone can help. Cheers Ken.

They could be "Keel Coolers" rather than Keels in the wider sense, oil or coolant runs through them and is cooled by contact with the water. Never heard of a "New Holland" thats not blue and a Tractor !

it might be worth a post on the Thames Forum, I think I have seen one or two moored around the Cookham,Mrlow Henley area

Many dutch boats have keel cooled engines with no exhaust water discharge, in view of the shallow water, to avoid inlet blockages, but could also be cooling for hydraulic thrusters if fitted.

Ask Domininc Smulders at Thames Boat Sales 01628.773177

Dominic's sold many steel boats over the years and might be able to shed some light on New Holland's history (and demise).

Are you sure its the boat rather than the engine(s) that are New Holland? That was certainly (and perhaps still is) the brand name for a range of marine diesels, based I believe on Ford blocks and originally fitted to a number of makes of combine harvester. Lancing Marine used to marinise and supply them.

oil filled keels and rudders is quite common, as to volume, measure outside dims, subtract 2x steel thickness and multiply. easy to detect, by tapping with a hammer. As others haven't heard of a newholland, but it might have been a model or limited build.

need pics to help further.
