I have grown tired of the noise of my venerable Aqua Vac 3000 when used. It also re-circulates rather than extracts.

I would love a Festool extractor but lack the funds and use for one. I was considering one of these from Clas Olson http://www.clasohlson.com/uk/Cotech-Wet-&-Dry-Vacuum-Cleaner-with-power-tool-socket/18-3157

Previously when I had posted about using the Aqua Vac for dust extraction someone mentioned Vac Master who make products remarkably similar to the Clas Olson one. http://www.vacmaster.com/model/vq607sfd

The intention was to to purchase an additional pipe to attach to the blower outlet put it outside the boat.

I then came across these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VACMASTER-INDUSTRIAL-WET-DRY-VACUUM-CLEANER-20L-1500w-QUIET-MOTOR-HEPA-/251188219159?pt=UK_Vacuum_Cleaners&hash=item3a7bfc0d17

Which in addition to the primary filter in the drum have an additional Hepa filter on the exhaust. There is also the option to put a bag over the washable polyester primary filter or replace it with a cloth filter, it also takes bags if desired, can be used for wet if desired and can be automatically activated by a power tool.

Anyone used one please?

I'll be very interested in the outcome of this request too. I'm looking for a decent machine for use in the workshop and general DIY. The main difference I can see with the more expensive units is that they have auto filter cleaning systems and longer hoses.

It duly arrived and I am pleased with it so far. I have not used it much.

I wanted a quieter machine. The Aqua Vac noise was 94dBA @ 1 meter the same as our in house Dyson dc14. The Vacmaster is 82dBa as measured by me. Filtration is better and it has a tool power socket on the front which activates it when the tool is used. Good construction with metal pipes and canister. Comes with crevice, floor vacuuming and dusting heads, an (air) adaptor for power tools is included.

Comes with 3 dust filters for dry work : a bag which goes over the main drum polyester filter and can be shaken clean of fine dust like plaster a washable drum polyester filter and a washable hepa exhaust filter so I am hoping for no or little recirculated dust. There is a separate foam filter for wet use. It can also take a disposable collection bag (1 supplied). The hose is a really useful length at 3.5M. A power tool activates the unit immediately and it runs on a short while after the tool has stopped.

I am very pleased with it so far, the reduction in noise alone was very worthwhile.

Regards

David

I have now used this machine to clean up whilst removing all the headlining with its powdered foam and it has been excellent. The bag over the primary filter stopped it becoming clogged with fine powder and could simply be tapped clean. The hepa exhaust filter is completely clean. No noticeable reduction in suck when getting towards needing emptying.
