Any comments on this old French design, thanks
Maybe that was the great beam almost amidships, there one-off sale in Bayona, thanks for commentThey were an advanced design for their day and there was one we used to race against. I have heard that they tend to corkscrew with a quartering sea but don’t know any technical details.
Hopefully goes backwards better than a VegaIt's one of those old boats you are not surprised to find basically anywhere in the world, say like an Albin Vega.
Norway? Alaska? New Zealand or South Africa, I think no one would be surprised to find an Albin Vega or an Arpege over there
Good report there ,thanksJohn Kretschmer (of Gigi fame) rates them.
Spent a couple of days rafted with a fleet of Arpeges, in Concarneau, last year. Hearing tales of cruises throughout Biscay and down to the Rias. Their owners could have bought newer boats. But chose to lavish care and upgrades on their Arpeges. For their seakeeping qualities. And good sailing manners, short handed.
Not for me thenOne parked on the river here. Doubt it has sailed in many years.. Needs an ethusiast DIY type.
Thanks, sounds interestingMy friend had one, I help him deliver it back home in some real bumpy stuff and winds gusting at F7. I was surprised at how well she took the big waves coming just abaft the beam. Quite fast as well, 8knts most of the way home. Strange set up down below I thought, no forepeak just a small storage area.
Nice boat overall.
