I was really interested in the listing of marinas and their dues in PBO. What are you now expereincing as an increase for the next season. Just a percentage please so that we can draw some comparisons. Thanks
Aberystwyth: - It may be the highest rise in the country?
Just returned from a long trip away and opening the mail I find the bill for the next year at Aberystwyth Marina (whose slogan is 'Your Place to Sail') - it doesn't seem like it at the moment! For a boat between 9.1 to 11.2m it has rised from approx £2293 net to £2573 a net rise of according to my sums of just under 12.2% and a gross rise of, but remember VAT fell by 2.5 % of 9.8%.
Therefore:
Gross for a 9.1m boat £325 / metre
Gross for 10m £295.89
Gross for 11.1 £266.57
Apparently a one off rise to bring things into alignment with local marinas - 'A one off rise' is surely like 'The cheques in the post', 'yes I'll still love you in the morning, and 'hello I'm from the council I've come to help you' /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
Or as my old granny used to say - 'Pie crusts were made to be broken'
Why do they have to bring it into line with other local facilities, isn't price fixing and cartel illegal?
I would be greatly offended by that letter, we are putting the price up because we have learnt we can get more out of you, for no extra service and you can't move now to save money. Oh, by the way sir, SUCKER!.
Yours Hull Marina
Strangely, you write as though bringing price into line is how it should be, I have seen Hull marina and it is 'not all that' /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Tremendous answers already and ours seems also to be doing the "once etc.." too. But I am interested in others that are raising theirs by more reasonable amounts too.
I for one, am pursuing the line that increases should be an immediate precursor to real improvements for marina users. Not just to improve the local signage, for instance.
