Dual rudder angle sender

Hi all,

I have fitted a vdo dual rudder sender to my boat. Since fitting one of the gauges I purchased at the time does not work and never has. The one which does that is fitted and wired in only indicates half on the full rudder range, from port to midship. I am assuming the dual vdo gauge has a different resistance to a single unit. However, as I bought these a while ago before fitting, it's passed their return date, could anyone tell me if this would be expected with only one gauge fitted to a dual vdo sender?. Would anyone know if I purchased a new gauge in theory all should work as it should?

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi there, I had a quick look at the wiring diagram for the VDO sensors.

What is interesting is that the dual station unit resistance range is half that of the single station.

The gauges are all the same.

So my assumption would be, for the unit to work, TWO gauges need to be connected to get the resistance correct and match the sender.

So I think your theory is correct, get another gauge in the circuit at all will be well.

Good Luck
