If you needed to get a boat from Swansea to Jersey how would you get it there ? Boat is 25ft with 2xpetrol OB with a full tank of 500lt it has a range of approximately 150 miles in good conditions @ 30kts cruising.

Where would you plan to leave the UK coast from to head to Jersey and where would you make fuelling stops along the way? I reckon on allowing 2 days of favourable weather for this and about 1300lt of petrol.

An alternative may be to have it hauled/trailed to the South coast and drive from there ..... less than 1 tank of gas and it should be easier to pick a weather window. I'd probably visit the Isle of white and drop in on some folk on the way in this scenario too :)

If hauled can I get a single supplier to get it out of the water, onto a trailer (or flatbed) and put it in the water at destination port ? Any recommendations ?

Depends on if the boat is new to you and an unknown quantity or if it is your boat and you are confident of both your and the boats reliability.
Moving the boat by sea always brings up vision of whizzing across mirror flat seas with bright sunshine all around and F1 moderating and the prospect of a spectacular spot on timed evening arrival at your destination port.Moor up and off to the pub.
It does not feature a low pressure with F5-6 on the nose having to ease down to see through the spray/rain getting bashed to bits and wondering what that funny noise is and can the fuel gauge actually be that low bearing in mind just how far you still have to go and its getting dark.:)

In the course of a recent boat moving exercise came across a company in North Wales able to lift largish boats with its own on board Hiab lifting gear,at very reasonable price.
This means saving possibly £3-400 quid due to lift on and lift off at either end..

1300l @ £1.50 per litre. nearly £2000 Quid ? Plus over night mooring fees, beer and food etc.

You have worked out my cause for hesitance on the longer port to port cruise option :) I am fairly confident but its a new boat to me - on the one I just sold and have had for 6 years I still had those thoughts for the longer trips! Could you forward details for the hauler you referred to pls ... I have one quote so far for haul only.

I'd have it shipped to Poole, then enjoy some time around Poole / Swanage, waiting for a decent weather window to hop across to Jersey.

Otherwise, that North Devon and Cornwall coast looks very unforgiving - prevailing winds and waves from the Atlantic driving you onto a rocky shore, not much in the way of shelter (other than at Padstow), then there's the small matter of rounding Land's end

Recently bought a boat in Colwyn and had several suggestions to bring her back under her own steam.
It took about 30 seconds of serious consideration to knock that on the head, it should have taken less.
The boat would have had to come from North Wales round Lands End to the Thames Estuary.
Time. would have taken several days plus marina stops etc.
Cost . Table top guess 600 miles @ 1 gallon per mile.£2500.00
Weather Weather Weather.
Unknown boat.
It was good call as it turned out.On one engine the impellor gave up almost immediately on the other the prop woodruffe key was barely doing its job.

My shift eventually cost around £1500 in total including lifts. Could have got it cheaper but wanted the boat back ASAP, we used a company called A1 Transport in the end.
They move anything big, such as monster transformers etc, not just little toy boats.

I've done it the other way, from Guernsey to Neyland & later from Burry Port to Le Havre.
Fuel stop on the north coast at Padstow. On the south coast, Falmouth, Plymouth, Weymouth, with latter as departure port to cross to french coast/channel islands.

How heavy is the boat with engines, and what's the beam? If it's under about 2,800 kgs and 2.9m wide (I think?) you have a chance it'll go on a trailer towable behind a Land Rover or similar. If so, you'll probably find a sport boat dealer in Swansea that will transport it to the south coast for you, as they will probably have a suitable trailer and tow car.

We brought our boat from Portishead to Southampton last summer in 3 legs, the first to a Padstow. You lock into the harbour 2 hours either side of high water. Epic place to visit and fantastic fish and chips. Next leg was to Plymouth, about 130 Nm iirc. You might prefer to stop at Falmouth for fuel. My range is about 180 Nm inc safety factor. I used about 1.15 Nm per gal of Diesel.

If the boat will go on a trailer it will also go on the Ferry to Jersey. And if you did decide to go by sea I would leave two hours before the ferry and use the route they use.

Its do-able but.

You are in Jersey and will have to call the weather, arrange a mate/SWMBO to assist, not easy to arrange.

The boat is an unknown quantity, will it perform faultlessly from Swansea to Jersey otherwise you plus mate/SWMBO will waste a lot of time/ costs kicking your heels in a port en route or you may have to return to Jersey and come back for the boat when it is repaired.

Look at costs for delivery to Swansea to Poole/Weymouth and also Swansea to Jersey, with the latter you will not have unknown weather/breakdown and travel costs.

Try Ro Ro to Jersey, The boat should fit on a flatbed trailer provided its propely lashed and supported alternatively. For lift on lift Off try CI lines and Channel Seaways Guernsey number and ask for Bruno

Has the boat been out of service for a long period of time, always a recipe for problems ?

After making a few enquiries I can get the boat lifted, hauled to the south coast and in the water for just under £1000. There's a possibility I can get it freighted across for reasonable cost so will see how that one pans out ..
