Dripless shaft seal - help please

It was leaking from the face seal. And yes, prob twenty years old.

As an aside, on the last boat we had a Duramax seal. One winter’s Day my wife and I needed to take the boat from Hamble to Soton. Didn’t bother to check weather, just threw lines and headed off. Got to mouth of Hamble and it was very thick fog, so much so that we couldn’t even see the next pile.. I popped below to boot up the nav software and get the radar on, but not in time. We ‘d parked on the shingle. Copious amounts of fwd/reverse/revs and we were off on our merry way. When we got to Saxon, I hopped off to let the riggers know we’d arrived, only to get a phone call on the way from my good wife saying “I can hear water flowing IN the boat”. During the manouvers to get off the shingle, I broken a bolt holding the prop shaft,. The shaft had slipped sternwards and the Duramax had melted. It was like we had two hosepipes on full bore filling the bilge, with the pumps only just keeping up. Thankfully, we were right next to Travelift, but when I asked was told “we can lift you in three days”. “Not an option” I said, explaining the situation. Anyway, we got lifted within the hour. it was the most eye wateringly expensive lift we’d ever had, but a total bargain given the alternative!
