Recognising the need for some mechanical reinforcement of the glue fixing vertical soundproofing sheets, I'm wondering how easy it is to drill through multi layer material (foil/foam/polymeric barrier/foam/backing)?
Any advice? Slow or high speed?

Trouble with drilling this kind of material is that the drill may pick up threads and wind up material onto the bit. I would have thought just pushing a screw or awl through would be best. It may diminish the sound proofing by clamping it down and crushing the material. Perhaps some glue (epoxy) in a syringe pushed through a small hole to deliver glue onto inside of sound proofing. Press the material into place once glue is delivered until glue sets. olewill

A screw will push straight through all on its own, especially if it’s in a running electric driver.

Use a penny washer to prevent it pulling right through, and don’t screw it down tight so that you crush the insulation.

Having ripped office most of the old foam what I thought was a flat surface has a bevelled lip where a plywood pad supports the engine bearer. I wonder whether the sheet will bridge over this or I need to cut it.
