We were in the BVI doing the test sail and survey for the buyers. This is when the impact and water ingress found.

I'd also clearly forgotten some of the other details, although "we were doing a survey for the buyers" did leave me a trifle confused.

Would be interesting to know the answer to this. If you do damage the hull, how long would it take for water ingress to do serious damage the foam core?

The surveyor at Nanny Cay - a well respected man in his field - told us that the water ingress was at exactly the extent reached with the time frame of the collision. We did not know about this impact and water ingress at the time. It was a truly nasty surprise.
