Drawing on imray charts

Stupid question probably but I am having difficulty drawing onto imray charts
Can anyone suggest what is best to use
Or maybe my eyes are getting old and past it.

Either works well, although I prefer the pencil (2B).

I use ordinary 2B pencils without any trouble. HB don't work as well, and crucially are difficult to rub out completely, so I have banished them from the boat to ensure that those who know no better don't use them on the charts

For those who don't know, and still want to do 'tradnav' now and then, the small pencils provided free in IKEA stores are right for chartwork, being 2B.

Maybe your pencil is getting past it. 2B pencil does it for me. I suppose you could use a biro for corrections, but I'd rather use a fineline pen.

Get it laminated, or use transparent vinyl, then use an OHP marker.

Thanks for the responses I ill try a new pencil although it is a 2b I have been using.
Just does not seem be make a clear enough mark.

Fortunately SWMBO is an artist and uses 4B , 5B and 6B pencils. I find these are much better than 2B for chartwork on IMRAY charts as I do not have to press on so hard to get a legible mark. Downside is you need to sharpen more often but to be honest I usually drop them before they are blunt.

For my Imray C10 chart of the Western English Channel I used 'Fablon' (which I've had for over 30 years and it's still sticky!), which enables you to use a Chinagraph or wax pencil to mark your route or progress. I actually drew the preferred routes which I disected with 4 and 5 mile intervals before laminating. Easy for marking your hourly fixes. I hope the image shows below.
