Drats !! Morse gear cable not working ..

Been a terrible day with rain on and off ... but decided to risk between rain bouts ...

Was as expected a bit of a pain feeding through from lever control then via transom and then fwd through bulkheads to gearbox. But after a bit of bad language and perserverance - it was through ..

Connecting and up and adjusting was surprisingly easy .. in fact I had an idea of where on the threaded rods connectors were and guessed it. Fired up engine and was fine.

I used the new Cup and Ball that arrived yesterday ... all good.

Must get the Steam Cleaner active in that bilge !

20 year old gear cable went while in Holland last year, Picked up a replacement within a couple of hours and were strongly advised to replace the throttle cable as well which we did when we arrived home. Looking at your photos this would not go amiss on your boat, but then there is always a way to spend more money.

I did think to replace both ... probably bad choice not doing so !!

But at least I think safest is to KNOW I CAN operate gearbox ! At idle and in gear - she does about 1.5kts ... in fact will speed up to about 2kts ... so loss of throttle control is not such a big deal on the river ... but gearbox is another issue.
