We’ve done our time on beach cats. Neither the heating nor the sleeping accommodation is up to Mrs C’s current standards. We used to sleep between the hulls of our Hurricane, with a home made cover as a tent.

Both flesh and pride. Mrs C and I pitchpoled our Dart 18 on a French lake right outside the restaurant at lunchtime. A medium sized party of natives were waiting for us when we came ashore, to give us a round of applause.

Isn’t it the Hobie 16 that is the very unstable one?
Certainly the Dart 18 is a much saner design.

I’ve just had the time to watch that, and a couple of others, on a proper screen. The speed is awesome. But, a big but…. I thought you all thought Dragonflys were expensive. That thing leaves little change from 50 grand. You can indeed buy a DF920 for that. Granted, not a shiny one, but one that will take you, a couple of friends, your bedding and your bog for a 20kn spin.

I had a Topcat K3 on the lake here for about 10 years, pitchpoled it once and swung round the forestay on my trapeze before it all fell on top of me. My current boat is much more sedate.
