After an hours pre-season trip this morning, I decided to raise the DPH and have a look at just how much green stuff was on the duoprop (quite a lot). Problem is, it's stuck at 44 degrees, and I can't trim down to zero or thereabouts. Not a peep from the hydraulic motor, not a flicker from the voltmeter dial, so it's not trying. I assume there's a fuse somewhere - but could this be the circuit breaker on the VP D4? I have a single VP D4 210 and a 12 volt system. I have of course looked at the VP D4 operators manual, but this has shed no light. Any tips welcome:confused:

Leg trim on my dph's (admittedly on a d6, rather than a d4 installation) is controlled by a pair of relays on the hydraulic pump. If you're getting nothing at all, try pulling the relays and cleaning the contacts, and then refitting. I had a very similar problem a little while ago and this cleared it.

Cheers
Jimmy

Thanks Jimmy. Turned out all I needed to do was re-engage the evc panel by pressing the key symbol. Can't say I've ever needed to do that before, but I don't normally trim up so high so could be totally normal.

The power tilt/trim on my previous boat’s outboard had a similar problem. First symptoms were that it would trim up without any problem but very occasionally wouldn’t trim down on the first click of the switch. It gradually became less reliable until I replaced a relay.
