Looking across the Atlantic there seems to be an increasing part of the population who live in caravans or mobile homes or even their cars.My last yachting in the Uk was in Chichester where you can live aboard your yacht within the harbour at anchor by paying harbours dues .There is a shower facility in the harbour office. In theory if you for whatever reason you cannot keep up the payments your boat could be a permanent home.Theonly problem could be being eligible for social services and maintaining a communication link with normal society like a mailing address.Therehave been a few instances of boats being used as homes that have been commented on in the forum.Having lived on a sailing boat and working it’s quite common to amass stuff that would really belong in a shed but ends up under a tarp on the pontoon end this I imagine could be a problem, drawing attention to your real status,a permanent live aboard with no other home. The only answer to this would be to run a tight ship be ready for sea within a day and not collect unnecessary stuff.Just pondering how I would downsize from my house to. Dufour 24…….I should have bought a bigger boat🙂

Getting rid of your wife and all her bits and bobs would be a good start.

Have you just discovered the world of liveaboards?

There are plenty of places providing paid storage for people with too much clobber. If you can live with the lack of security, a van is potentially cheaper and more useful.

Spent 12 years in barrack rooms, 13 mostly in hotel rooms.
Yes I could easily live on a boat ( free time during the above often was in a boat).

But would I want to now?
No.
Too much stuff, too much comfort at home.

Your wife might not be too impressed with which of the words you decided to capitalise.
Obviously one must whatwhatyou write in these pages 😂……Iwas referring to to my wife to differentiate between someone else’s wife who Ihaveno knowledge but rest assured I still wouldnt stuff them in the bilges😏

She would have been more pleased with "my WIFE" emphasing her status rather than your ownership of her ;)

And talking of boats, Wansey......now that they have swapped your eyes out....when are you going sailing ?
