Ramsgate is only OK if you can moor somewhere other than on the outside of the long visitors pontoon.
If you are stuck on there you can get quite a bit of swell coming in from the entrance and a huge amount of wash from the commercial vessels that don't slow down properly as they come in. Take it from me, we have had to put up with that a couple of years ago.....
We also saw numerous boats on a MBM rally that were rafted up along there getting bashed against each other because of the wash. I'm sure there were a couple that took a bit of damage.
I would rather 'suffer' the lorries and the lock at Dover than go through that again. It's a shame as we really like Ramsgate and there are loads of great places to eat.
