Why is it that nearly everyone who I have dealt with regarding the purchase of 'Our' boat...................as a double barrel name??

Is it just something that is essential in the nautical world? Is there some sinister 'Bigger Picture' to bamboozle us into parting with more money?? Is it just a bloody funny coincidence???

Just thought I'd ask /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

They l seem very good at their chosen subjects however, the only one who was rubbish was a broker with a non double barrel name!!

I must 'Big-Up' the surveyor, a young chap by the name of Edd Horne-Wingett, what a nice guy!

Cheers all.

Your name is pretty long but I'd like to be known as:

'Roger Ratus-Rat from now on... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Everyone is gradually aquiring a double-barrel name now because people don't marry any more. So children routinely get lumbered with Bloggs-Symthe or Pratt-Thomas, to indicate "ownership" by both insecure parents.
Pity the next generation!

It does seem there are plenty of these around, chap I am dealing with at moment has db surname, and a few others I have come across, I think it rolls off the tongue better in an introduction rather than " Hi my name is Fred Smith from expensive boat sales" .

I have a DB surname. Comes from way back, not some modern fad. And its an absolute pain-in-the-arse. 'Cos its such a mouthful, I use only the back end for day-to-day purposes but have to use the lot for official purposes. Which leads to confusion of course and some checks against the Electoral Roll have failed and have led to me be accused of giving incorrect information. Wish I was called Smith!
