We want to stop overnight and visit Dorchester on our trip up river next month, with a draft of 4'1" where would be the best spot?

Thanks

There are lots of moorings above the lock, some really nice secluded spots, but you're a bit deep for some of them.

Also talk to the locky as I believe he'll let you moor on the island (no idea of the depth there)

The meadow moorings just above the Thame entrance are deep, but very high bank - there is one spot where somebody has cut a step into the bank I always try for. The lovely moorings above the lock are generally shallow but there is one amongst the trees which is very deep (difficult to describe which one it is though). I would assume the EA moorings are deep on the lock island. All about 20 mins walk into Dorchester. Years ago you could go some way up the Thame but it looks difficult now.

Prof, wasn't the one I was thinking of (which is further towards the lock first boat is a white boat sitting in it, I go to the upstream part), but the one you show & a few more beyond are fairly deep I believe. Bit more remote & more complicated re crossing some fences for the cows.

You could indeed, we had a mooring for years up the top in Dorchester even had a 30ft Starcraft moored there for a few years. There always used to be boats moored in the first couple of
bends overnight and it was a great spot, however nobody tries anymore. However I reckon you could still get a boat up there, there are still a few small cruisers on our old moorings
below the bridge.

No Regrets and I went up there with tenders back in May. It was tricky even in a small RIB what with lots of very low branches, extensive weed and a fast flow. (It had been raining hard all week!).
