dolphins

We were coming past old harry rocks on Saturday and saw two dolphins (at least thats what they looked like) jumping by our boat, we slowed to take a look and saw them surface a few more times and then dissappear. It was brilliant - any one else see them?

not in poole/swanage, but coming accros lyme bay a couple of years ago I came accross a huge group of them, they played in my bow wave for a bit and I got some great video! a magical moment.

About ten of them between Dartmouth and Brixham last week. Fairly common. Havent seen a Basking shark for a while.

We found two basking sharks last year on our way down to La Rochelle - just off the N entrance to the Chenal du Four, first I've seen for thirty years ..

Same place SWMBO saw one big one alongside in the dark, she said it was staring at her. She called me (I was asleep) but I didn't believe her and went back to sleep. Next time I woke for the customary one-eyed scan of the radar if it's on, she had turned off the 'plot' or target trails function so I couldn't see which might be a problem and had to get up for a look round (everything on the screen had already passed clear of us, which of course she knew). Now if she yells 'sharks' I get up and go look at the dolphins too.

Basking sharks

Saw a large school of them mid channel 2 years ago, there must have been a dozen or more, they weren't at all concerned by the boat.

Yep

Saw about 5, while passing through the violet passge off the SE corner of Jersey last summer. We were only doing about 14kts, right by the safe water mark.

It was at 5.45am.

Fantastic sight jumping in the wake.Have great piccies too !
