We've a new wire-haired Jack Russell puppy arriving next week.
Been working through nautical dog names.
So far we've only come up with:
Skip
Tinker
Mate

Would you lot like to suggest a suitable name?

(It's a boy puppy!)

THANKS FOR ALL THE EXCELLENT SUGGESTIONS. PUPPY ARRIVES THIS WEEK. WILL POST THE WINNING NAME.

I've always wondered how a major British car company could have made the major marketing gaff call calling their product after a dog, so you may like to return Rover's compliment by calling him "Car".

Or since you will be shouting the name quite a bit, sometimes in boaty surroundings, you may consider, for the entertainment and confusion value:

Give way
Let go
Starboard
Cast off
Mayday
Aground
(Fire may be going too far...)

There are two terriers on a boat in Plymouth called Rockall and Finnistre

Whatever you call him, it's a bit like boat names, try and imagine yourself calling him to heel in a crowded park. As in "Here ******" or "Tarquin, come here at once!",
Similarly "Genghis" applied to dogs of small stature. :)

What about "Ensign"?

ed: Bloomin eck, that swear filter's a bit fierce!

Given its likely inclination to run fast in any direction at random, causing havoc for all concerned, you could call it " mobo". :D

Or yopu could forget the nautical theme, call it Gordon and enjoy kicking it in the nuts every so often
