Dog Lifejackets

Our JR doesn't like the water. He won't even walk through puddles if he can help it!
When I take him for a walk we go past a lake where all the dogs go in and he walks straight on. He did go in once inadvertently , he was chasing another dog. When he found himself in the water he couldn't get out fast enough!
I don't worry about him falling overboard though, I'm sure he could do the doggy paddle!

It's getting them out again. Our JR cannot climb a 20' ladder or stone quay wall, but I can hoick her out by the handle on her lifejacket. It's also good for getting her in & out of the dink/ boat. I can also get her up & down the ladder using the handle.

The LJ was too big. (As highlighted by forum members)
So I sent it back and a small one was sent in exchange.

Bad news though. I've discovered a tumour the size of a gob stopper on a front paw.
Op scheduled for next week.
I have been banned from taking the dog again to the boat. It's my fault for letting him fall in.

On seeing the first picture of the O.P's dog my first thought was no wonder he doesn't like it far too restrictive. the smaller version looks a far better fit. Hope he's not still growing.

Monty preparing to abandon ship. I think it is a Plastimo (it is cos it was right behind me as I typed) buoyancy aid, I have found it very good.

Our dogs swim like seals.

But if you have ever tried to lift a 30kg wet, slippery and frightened dog out of the water you know that a good handle is important.

Tell me about it. Our daft boxer jumped off the wall at Bembridge a few years back, thinking that the mat of duckweed was solid ground. Trying to get down the wall and hold on while trying to grab her by the collar and hoick her out while she kicked and struggled was a nightmare.

Our girl likes to swim, but she's not actually very good at it. More particularly she's not very good at steering, so she's as likely to head away from the shore as back again.
