Does this exist - VHF DSC with AIS, internal GPS, remote Mike

Lots of transponders have integral GPS receivers. I think that the AIS standard requires that a transponder must have its own GPS receiver (even if the boat already has a GPS receiver), in order to guarantee the precise timing of AIS transmissions.

Well, that was the opposite from what I thought you said ?

It was Phoenix of Hamble who said that AIS couldn't have integral GPS. I said I thought that applied to transponders, not to VHF radios. It seems we were both mistaken regarding transponders. Certainly, VHF radios can have internal GPS receivers, although there aren't many around at the moment. If Standard Horizon were to take the GPS technology from their GX1700 and apply it to the GX2100/2150, it could be a great solution for lots of boaters.
