Does antifoul work ????

This is my boat....been in the water for 1 year and 2 days....
International Trilux........

obviously has not worked for me........so whats the point in spending £100.00........????????????????

Should I send this picture to International and ask for my money back ????
 
I had to scrub after 5 weeks this year - and then five weeks later I had to scrub again - and then 7 weeks later I scrub again. The only thing I would say is taht its weed not barnacles for me that cause the problem.

So why bother with antifoul if you need to scrub that often ???
 
Was that on a drying mooring?

Found Micron without drying pretty good for last couple of years, but have notice the difference from being in a drying berth.
 
Was not a drying mooring.....salt river with plenty of fresh running off..
Fosdyke yacht haven... nr. Boston. The Wash, Lincolnshire.

It took 3 hours with a power washer and wooden scraper (23foot boat) and it didn't half stink......very fishy...
 
Thought that maybe the 'tide mark' was a mud line, but presumably you have dispensed with a boot top.

Trilux is a hard antifouling. Have used hard antifouling in the mud as an eroding gets rubbed off a bit too quick, but not sure it is a good all tide paint. What made you choose it?
 
I bought the boat second hand , only 11 months old....Parkers use Trilux ...!!!!!!

No boot top.....but isn't trilux used for boot top anyway... the water line is a bit high ....but the boat has had very little gear on board...
 
I would definitely ask for the money back... Their response could be that you are doing it wrong, but at least you will get advice on how to do it right

whether this is the product, or the application, or whatever....

or they might give you your money back.


Only £100.... How about the cost of labour/time
 
Was Trilux the right choice?

Not sure that Trilux was the right choice for your boat. International describe it as "Offers protection in low to medium fouling conditions where a hard, scrubbable antifouling is required. Ideal for fast powerboats, propellers, outdrives, sterngear and the waterline." And did you follow their strict immersion time guidelines?

You're having a laugh. "Did you apply it in accordance with the instructions, Sir?" "Yes". "I'm afraid you must have made some mistakes." I would like to go to their stand at the Boat Show with the TV cameras and challenge them to get it to last for a substantial part of the season. What should we say... how about two months?
 
I have heard of a couple of people who have had their money back for this sort of reason, although putting on a coating which is not really suitable may not qualify.

Worth a try though.

I am sorry but you are quite wrong, one of my clients applied the antifoul himself and it had a 2 year guarantee. (Interspeed extra - i think)

After one year he had weed, he called International and spoke to the technical manager, he asked about the area and said that a lot of dredging has been carried out there. He said that he believed that was the problem however he sent out two replacement tins. The next day the owner took that boat out and most of the weed came off while sailing.

International do keep to their word, I am surprised by the level of fouling in the picture.
 
The antifoul was applied over a grey primer and a green epoxy...I will have to ask parker for the make...!!!

Parkers applied the antifoul from new........I would like to here International tell them that they have applied it wrong..

And I doubt that the boat had noy been immersed with the time limit.

So what antifoul would work......???
