What's a low start price got to do with anything? It has absolutely no bearing on what it'll fetch.

No - but the complete lack of detail indicates either a lack of knowledge of the vessel or a complete disinterest in the vessel - not something you'd normally expect from someone selling what looks to be a reasonable dinghy.

A low start bid would be more acceptable (ok - that's the wrong word really) if the seller had put a few more details with it - like the mark, sail number, condition of the vessel ...

but as it stands it looks like someone has got a boat with absolutely no idea about it at all and just trying to get rid on ebay. This could be a relative - but you'd possibly expect a bit more information around it - especially given the history of their account - they are no strangers to the internet therefore could've done a google search on the approx value of the vessel - the name of which isn't difficult to ascertain if they'd just lift the cover!
An alternative is that it's not completely legal ... which is why it's worth a little investigation.

Well I tried the Warwickshire police who couldn't have cared less, in fact raised that attitude to an art form.

Tried E-Bay but 'that item has ended'...I'd like to think if I had a boat - or anything else - stolen then someone saw it and reported it, some sort of action might be taken, but as usual even spoon feeding plod isn't enough to shift them.

May well be a genuine ad', we'll probably never know; on the other hand someone who's not too enquiring may have got a very good dinghy very cheap.

BAV 34 when did you see this ?

The ad' says 6 days to run but E-Bay say it's ended ?
Seems to have bought a lot of lappie chargers, interested in pooter games and chains.

I am aware it could be one of those cases where the owner is deceased, and worded my approaches to E-Bay & the police accordingly.

This looks like an RS to me, so potentially worth in the thousands; and not a beginners' boat.

I'm certain I entered the right item no, so haven't a clue why I got the response I did.

So has anyone alerted E-Bay ?

Not me, and I know that having started the thread I should take some ownership of the problem.

I too have sent a simple request for more info. and will decide on a course of action when/if I get a reply.

At the moment I see a boat that could be worth in the thousands, that could sell for £102 and listed in a way that it 'flies under the radar'.

Sincerely hope that it's a genuine sale as at the very least it means there's not an owner out there missing a dinghy.

It's not an RS400 - the bowsprit is too high.
More likely an RS200 or Laser2k.

Not sure about the L2k now - the bowsprit is quite high - so more likely a 200 ... but not sure about them chines - I thought a 200 was more rounded.

But then perhaps the bowsprit isn't high enough for an RS200 - because it comes in over the top of the bow rather than moulded through like the 2k.

Seller has just added info: it's a laser vago with good sails and everything in the picture included. With 6 days to go and a few bidders already, it should go a lot higher.
