Hello,
We are planning a trip across to the channel islands and I am just wondering if we need to take all of the boat registration documents with us, as well as our insurance certificate?
I would take at least a copy of the insurance certificate as a matter of course, and probably a copy of the other docs (registration doc etc) but should I take originals of these as well? Am I likely to be stopped by any of the French coastguard and have them ask for these docs, or are the channel islands outside of their jurisdiction?

cheers,
Ben

Re: Assume you will go to France as well.

What would your diversion ports of refuge be?. Would have thought Cherbourg would be one.
I always pack passports, insurance, qualifications and original class 1 reg doc in a small folder.
Never worried by popping into France then ( but officals in Granville did question the encapsulated class 1 sheet this year!!). Another bonus of coming back via France is the avoidance of proceedure for the UK customs forms which you should do if returning direct from CI.
