That's where you may be wrong. I managed to bury most of my skeletons and the rest were cremated.
I'm glad you feel secure. I've had a couple I thought were well buried come back to haunt me and my fear about cremation would be that some guy with a drone or a dash cam would be going by at just the wrong time and have the whole lot up on FaceCloth or Rudetube and I'd be tagged or is that shagged.

Yes! Used FB to trace a boat owner who abandoned his yacht in our Pill! He was well annoyed that he had been traced but still hasn`t paid, Justice done as his present Club Commodore and all his friends know what he is like! Came up with a cock and bull story that he has sold the yacht to a untraceable Spanish gentleman! Hope he reads this.:encouragement:

This is exactly why I don't use FaceCloth.

I am definitely not a fan of FB and have never joined but ............ like a few other posters above my owners association set up a FB group and encouraged members to participate. Reluctantly I joined FB and have, to a lesser extent than some, joined in. Some of it is interesting and some of it isn't. One effect it appears to have had is to increase the membership of the association which must be a positive. Interestingly, like a previous poster, there is currently a debate on whether to use FB or the website forum to discuss issues with boats, modifications etc. It seems the forum is a permanent record whereas if posted on FB it is not. I don't have the knowledge to know if this is so or not. I do know, I am definitely a fan of this East Coast Forum. Andy

Running totals are:

"Yes on a regular basis" 22 54%
"Yes, on an ad hoc basis" 5 12%
"No, but I use them for other purposes" 5 12%
"No, not in any circumstances" 9 22%

I thought there was a "why is this not in Scuttlebutt" question, but now can't find it - answer is it's in response to Chatting Lil's comments in this forum about the Boat Show

I said that already :D

Oh right! In that case I had toast for breakfast, one slice had marmite and the other had marmalade. The bread was superb but the butter a bit too rich. Had tea today because I've run out of coffee, maybe try chocolate just for a change. Took the dog for a walk but he only had one crap because it was raining. Would have posted selfies but - I don't really do social media!

Pretty good effort for a novice then :p

interesting poll results!

I wonder how many people are answering yes to social media because they consider this forum as such? When I made my comment, I meant that APART from this forum and facebook, I don't use any other social media and therefore I didn't see any communication or information about the boatshow. I don't use social media to follow any boating news. I occasionally look in the news section on ybw.com, but I don't get hit with any information.

I don't use Facebook, Twitter or the other thing. Am I missing anything much?

Facebook wise, You are certainly missing absolutely loads if you sail or any kind of boat owner, with all the discussion/advice boards and of course the boat & yacht selling sites. I have bought no end of stuff from fellow sailors on there. (The latest being a spray hood for free, (and if the gentleman is reading this, again many, many thanks) and a sail cover for a low price). Also, you have your local area selling sites for all kinds of things. I recently bought 7 bottles of unopened sealed whisky & bourbon just before Christmas, from someone who had given up drinking...or nicked it (I don't know) but it was very cheap. You are missing loads, and if you have friends relatives who use it, it is the easiest way of keeping in touch. I cannot understand now, why anybody would not be on it.
I've been on it 2 years now, on the advice of my son, and it is a wonderful site for all interests. (Including keeping up with my sons travels, and a friends trip to Australia)
I also have started a group page for those who own Guy Thompson designed boats, and recently got contact from someone who lives in New Zealand, posted a pic of his Thompson on the page which he sails in the Huaraki bay...A very long reaching worldwide site.

This sort of exchange is because it is social media and the "conversation" isn't face to face so you can see if the person is serious or speaking in jest.

I prefer the forum as it was a few years ago. People be they motor boaters or sailors got on and helped each other. I for one won't stay long if this sort of exchange is the new norm.
