like cars could or should have different colours available for they're hull. and if they did ,do you think more females would become involved as they could choose the colour they liked and then they may want their partners to change the boat more often to have the "latest colour" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Umm, NO. The idea of having yet another set of paint tins around with an unused litre or so, does not entice.

If you insist, though, you could paint one side of the hull your choice of colour, and leave the other side's colour to the Sig Other.

(It wasn't me, officer, it was a similar boat, but in topaz / ginger / melon / avocado....)

think "female" car colours was a market response to the financial independence of women. I m not saying women arent financially able to buy boats, but that i dont think a change of hull colour is going to draw in the crowds. Do you?

If it anit white, blue or black non starter, everyone seems to have tried it at some point but second hand they take a dive.

Can't get my head around red hulled boats, just seems totally non boaty and look strange on the water like seeing a London d/decker in orange or purple, doesn't work.

Only other colour I would consider would be dark gunmetal hull with silver upperworks aka 'Shiver' or similar.

Maybe ladies would buy different colours but hwmbo would run a mile (or maybe thats the idea /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif).

All I can say is...

Robert Cavalli /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Interesting thought but I doubt it would work, you can get different colored hull and whatnot already (e.g. Mochi Dolphin, Beneteau Flyer 12 but seems like most just stick to white/blue/black, seems classier to me /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Aaargh, Roberto Cavalli! (It's a Baglietto owned by, erm, Roberto Cavalli). It's done in that purple-green paint which is rather clever but not at all exclusive due to the fact it was available as an option 5 or 6 years ago on TVRs and Nissan Primeras. And most of the latter are now taxis in Manchester :/

Here's another pic of her taken at the 2006 Monaco GP. Extra points to anyone who can explain the cameraman's vantage point :-)

Well I'm not sure of the exact point but I believe its the port 'Condamine'...? Unless it the other one i forget the name of obviously /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Chris

the cameraman is located in the crows nest of Mirabella V whilst it was in Port Hercules in Monaco during GP week and his position is indefensible as he is a bit of a freeloader. There again er er ah, but i wasn't the camerman...

Location exactly right tcm. (And Chris, it is aka port condamine). But the freeloader allegation is not totally accurate tcm. I know the cameraman (which is how I have his pic) and he definitely paid for his own cup of tea on the easyjet trip down to Nice

cup of tea, hm? It's much more fun to ask for chicken soup. Cos very often the chicken soup is on the other trolley and they have to do a little mime of chicken soup to get them to bring it over. Ho hum. I don't think i can take much more of this chirstmas holidays boredom...

Me too. It's terrible. I've just booked to go skiing tomorrow, for the weekend. And I feel like going sailing in sunny Auckland the weekend after.

(I know there's a shortage of snow but I'm going with a crowd and the bars will be open)

Boats are white above the rubbing band for two very good reasons.

Firstly white reflects the heat the best (imagine walking barefoot across a dark blue GRP cabin roof on a hot sunny day!!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif)

And secondly white won't fade in the sun (you've only got to look at the stern quarters of a blue hulled Targa where the blue faces upwards to see the effects sunlight can have. Red is even worse) Imagine a whole deck!

I'll stick with white thanks, and maybe blue topsides if I'm feeling brave... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

For cruisers, I think 'Subtle' works but the Speed / Ski boats can look cool in colour, I like white with custom graphics rather than yellow or pink GRP though.

Btw, interesting message board, liked the comment about, "My lakes rougher than yours!" I would have to agree that Michigan and Superior have gotta be roughest, they make the 'Channel look small!

For the record :

JFM paid for that piccie to be taken ... he was scared of the height, another missed opportunity ' I was nearly there' ...also taken on Practice day !!

TCM : Mrs Learner is not uneducated, her life is dedicated to bringing a little education to the unencumbered in such directions.

huh, i was using a shorthand to refer to "learner" and "mrs learner", learner itself being only a so-so username btw cept you seem to be stuck with it. Or are you? How about a nice new username for 2007? you could have erm er Llandaffy perhaps, or Lllearneriau, or something more racy like er PontyCannes. Rivierarista another option. Monacoalpit? SuperGrasse?

[/ QUOTE ] on that point alone, Green is the hardest and most fade-resistant colour pigment.
