It is real. Like most in that series, it is written to people who seem to not mind being spoken to as Dummies.

This does the same thing much better.

I have read both and thought KISS good enough to buy.

I read it before I bought a beach cat when I was a teenager. Obviosly fairly basic but useful for somebody who hadn't sailed before.

Yes. also the KISS book. Very good for sending to people who are interested but have yet to come on the boat.

Mrs FC has the KISS book and still refers to it prior to each season.

I dont care how sniffy you get, they have some value....

Agreed - the Dummies series has a very worthwhile place. I bought the one on web design, although I've never used it in anger. A friend of mine is writing Aspergers for Dummies - now autism is one that needs to be explained to people outside it.

For my sins, I'm the person people come to at work when they have a problem with Excel, especially if they need some programming done. When asked how I learned to program, I tell 'em I bought VB for Excel for Dummies and swore at the computer until it started doing what it was told.
