I own a super yacht and I feel sure many of you feel the same about your own boats.

Or more to the point do you know the difference between a superyacht, a megayacht and a gigayacht?

There is no definite legal difference, but the accepted way is by hull length.
Superyacht – Traditionally a custom vessel over 80 feet long, today’s superyacht definition has been somewhat redefined to only include vessels over 100 feet.
Megayacht – Generally any vessel over 200 feet long.
Gigayacht – A newer term coined to describe yachts over 300 feet in length.

So, now you know.

A superyacht at least in the 1970s moored up along side the coaster I worked on,he was a great bloke or gentleman, unlike his crew a grumpy git who couldn’t pass a civil word…..how did they meet😳

I don't know many superyacht owners. I have seen a couple of Abramovitch's and then there was Robert Maxwell and came to the conclusion that there was a pattern somewhere.
I think some of owners I know would be a little upset with that label.

When i built my sailing boat, i can't remember if it was in the sight reduction tables or the nautical almanac, but i looked at names of stars and their descriptions. GIENAH was described as " a small, insignificant star. An apt name for my boat and me.
