I’m not sure you need one if your concern is diesel engines. They put out tiny amounts of CO. I suspect you will gag from the stink long before the CO kills you. Petrol engines are a different matter, including ones that berth next to you.No . But we have a CO detector ..on a shelf in the aft cabin ....as exhaust pipes run through the aft cabin and you never know if there’s a leak where it may end up .
its an odourless silent killer .
Some boats have a camera in the engine room to spot smoke.I have bought one but don’t want to screw it to the head lining any ideas.
We have linked fire & co2 alarms (nest) in engine, saloon & all bedrooms. Idea being if fire or co2 rises in engine room at night the bedroom one wakes you up.
Not much use if you are asleepSome boats have a camera in the engine room to spot smoke.
Smoke detectors detect sooner if on the ceiling, which is why that’s where they should be mounted.Have you got any screw fixings for the vinyl coverings, just undo one in the right location and attach the smoke alarm, works for me. Don't like drilling new holes for alarms as when it comes to replacement you can bet the holes won't align. Mine are mounted on the wall not ceiling.

We have similar with FireAngel - also engine one would be hard to hear on FB, so the fact that they all go off is very useful. They have a 10 year battery life, so fairly 'fit & forget'
do you drive when asleep then? Not much use if you are asleep
