Do we now need an electric boat forum???

Talking of Beneteau, they now have a 42 ft flybridge powered by outboards. Not long ago that was unthinkable (outside America at least)....so the future can happen, change can happen

I think that looks very interesting - the only issue I have is the maths…

221KWh of battery is a LOT of weight (although that is getting better all the time) but it says it will charge to 80% overnight….

80% of 221 is 176.8 (call it 177) so at a typical shore power of 16a that’s 3.5kw per hr supplied so 50.5 hours to charge to 80% - that is one long night…….. even on a 32a supply that’s still 25 hrs - again questionable if that is “overnight”.

However what IS impressive is charging to 80% from solar in 4 days - if that’s true, moor up Sunday and just leave it, by next Friday it’s almost done… again though, 4 days = 100hrs approx, but only perhaps 14 a day are sunny, so to charge 177KW in 56 hrs needs 3.1KW supplied from the solar which is possible I guess,,,,,

What on the Hamble???

That will be really good for the environment - three huge petrol outboards.
Perhaps petrol and diesel should have triple the road tax rates when used on boats, to get less mad petrol power race.

You should have a taste of the French motorboat tax...it will make your toes curl...two separate taxes...one for the length of the boat the other for the engine

Absolutely crazy, politically correct nonsense from the politics of envy.

Why do we put up with this sort of stuff?

Because blocking the nations highways with boat trailers is dangerous and ineffective
I'd move my boating area or stop doing it altogether.

The French boating industry is pretty big, they will kick off if their customers dry up.
