Errr?

For the car, the person, or the boat ?

For the car, yes.
For the person, no.
For the boat. no. Except...

To launch into certain harbours and rivers you need a local permit.
To operate in some wateres you need third party insurance.
On the Thames and other inland waters the boat needs to be certified compliant with local construction and equipment regs.

Re: Errr?

Err, sorry James, it was a wind-up about the car licence, after the earlier thread about licences at http://www.ybw.com/cgi-bin/forums/s...m told us off about it. I'm not bitter mind.

Re: Errr?

Not sure about the earlier thread so sorry if I'm repeating things already said. It is not widely known that if you got your UK license after a certain date (in the 90's I think but don't quote me) you need a competency certificate to tow anything over a certain weight (can't remeber how much but its not much).

I work in the farming industry and know of a farmer in Wales who is being taken to the cleaners over this. A young worker of his was towing a stock trailer with no cert and hit somebody. Ignorance is no defence!
