Do Narrowboats have difficult?

The whole canal scene has changed in recent years; the enthusiast for "traditional" is still there, but the vast majority just want a country cottage, and reliability.

A "proper" engine takes a vast amount of prime cabin space - at least 8ft if you are going to do it properly, and the reaward space is not terribly useful unless you like sitting / sleeping in cramped quarters.

Have you ever tried to start a Bollinder......
 
no but i once lived in a boat that had an enfield opposed two cylinder diesel that had to be warmed with meths before starting. the engine was kaput though. the boat was called abel tasman lol, but this one wasn't going anywhere.
