D\'Management must be listening

The new July issue arrived today, it is all about downsizing this and saving money on that.

We have:

4 pages about a nearly retied couple exchanging their “globe girdling” 38footer for a 27 ft yacht.
4 pages on deck gear upgrades for the older boat.
Second look review of the Westerly Centaur.
This month survey.survey.survey compares 3 normal yachts around 30ft and £30k.
Oh just found another, 2 pages titled "Less boat, more fun".
Then they had to spoil it all with an iceberg cruise story, some things don't change.

I like those iceberg cruise stories. So much more fun than 'go continental down the canal du midi' or 'harness the power of propwash' or even the last resort of the scoundrel 'AWBs, you either love them or you hate them'. Can't be long before 'fit a gps' comes round again, either.

See what you mean now, I misinterpreted the headline "when semi-retirement beckoned" but did not read the article in detail. By the time I retire full retirement at 73 will be a luxury.

Can someone let me know whereabouts in Canada the Iceberg cruising story is? (Contents page on ybw.com tells me its Canada but no more detail.)
Ta muchly.

Re: D\'Management must be listening

Forteau, Labrador is where the story begins.

Bit North of you, I think. (Not that my geography of Canada is all that good! )

Re: D\'Management must be listening

Getting back to the original point, for some of us a 27 foot boat would be upsizing. Don't they say the ideal boat is one four feet longer than the one you've got?

I sail an Achilles 24, very happily; size isn't everything
