With all that thinking and planning about rebuilding Italian boats, I almost forgot about our very interesting dive holiday in Scotland last September.
Here is a brief overview with pics from this fantastic adventure

Ready for embarcation in Holland Ijmuiden for the ferry to Newcastle. One buddy with the campervan, one with the ML and a trailer for the dive stuff, and me and swmbo with our car and the boat.

From Newcastle still 350km drive till Oban.

Preparing the boat, the canopy, the dive compressor, the dive gear, …in Dunstaffnage marina.

And loading some spare stuff

The night before our departure
I finished the mounting of the front window wipers just in time,
But we were 4 day’s in Schotland before we could test these, (not even for spray)
just to indicate how lucky we were with the weather conditions.
Here we prepare for our first dive in Kerrera sound

not bad for a first day’s catch

Swmbo was very concentrated to locate the wreck on the side scan sonar

Between two dives no alcohol guy’s !

The lady was happy, being surrounded with 6 handsome guy’s all week,

This was the only floating mooring we could find in Oban center.

Actually my friend on that previous pic, is a offshore worker, assistant operator of a ROV. He was pleasantly surprised to see this on the main quai.
near the restaurant where we had lunch

Due to the good weather we decided to do the longer trips first, to some exposed dive spots.
This was a lunch stop in Arinagour on the far distant island Coll

A Basking shark just near the boat.

great looking trip - dived there myself years ago. remember the scallops very well - fried in butter within minutes of landing - unbeatable.
Can't remember packing a spare leg though. Shame - it would have come in handy when the skipper got legless later.
Great photos and thanks for posting!

LOL, I was also wondering about it...! :D
Some very nice places indeed Bart, looks like you had a really great time!
No u/w pics or clips?
Thanks anyway for sharing the experience with us.

Looks to have been a great trip!

Beautiful scenery and some very nice pictures (and captions) :)

Yes, could we have some u/w pics as well, please!

I just want to know about the spare leg

Our mate jurgen lost part of a leg, just under the knee, work accident on a ship. 8 years ago
He has a waterproove prothese for the diving.
Its amazing how he can move and dive with it,
He climbes the dive ladder, without help, more easy then most of the divers i know.
Despite the tragic accident he,s ok now. He doesn't want compassion!

lovely to see such beautifucl pics of the area - it's now almost 15years that I've toured around (no, not dived!)

Wondering if you indeed have only being drinking coke and belgian beer throughout the excursion though. I'm not a serious whiskey drinker, but some of the single malts of the area are excellent and worth tasting (probably not if you're diving the next morning though...) Hope you at least brought some bottles back home ;)

Great post Bart with some lovely pictures, glad you enjoyed bonnie Scotland. It seems you had some nice weather. What did you mean about legal fishing, are there restrictions on what you can find/keep from the seabed?

Re comments on the whiskey, Bart could probably buy cheaper in Belgium, I remember buying some in France to bring home years ago, the locals found this hilarious that it was cheaper there (I don't think that is funny!)

The castle in the picture is Duart Castle and was used for the film Entrapment starring Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

I should say Castle Duart is the first castle which appears in the sequence of photos.

that I didn't know,

that other castle
we were told that Doune castle was used in the opening scene of monty python's The Holy grail.
Should be common knowledge for you Brits iyam :)

its a worldwide rule for sports divers that they can't take anything from the sea while diving. I was pleasantly surprised while talking with a local dive club, he advised us how and where to catch fish.

don't worry, we had 6 evenings to taste all flavours of local whiskey.
On the bad weather day we visited the Oban distillery, including tasting...
One mate bought no less then 50 bottles of a very special limited edition Oban single malt (only 1000 bottles produced)

we also bought a few bottles Oban, taste is close to our favourite single malt: Dalwhinnie.

Knowing what it means to move around with diving equipment, both while onboard and underwater, he has my utmost respect, rather than any compassion.
I've seen more than one diver in trouble wihle climbing the ladder, even with both legs.
Chapeau!

Yep, I would have been equally surprised!
I've never been in a place where fishing was generally allowed while diving. And if and when it's allowed, it's strictly with no air.
Maybe in Oban they have so few divers that it's not worth bothering with these restrictions...?

when you see him, and you didn't know it, you would not notice !

indeed,
during that week Schotland in september we didn't see one single divers boat,
in SOF in october or even november you see divers boats everywhere.
