Is there enough water to get up Faversam creek (Swale) at low water? Taking the boat up there tomorrow and would like to get a track of the channel on a handheld gps to follow when going up on the flood.

Suppose it depends on how low LW is ;)
Not my territory although I've been up and down a few times. Most keelboats that come to grief seem to do so cutting the corner on a conspicuous large, squarish meander about 1/3 of the way upstream, so it would be worth taking special care checking that out. The trouble with scouting by tender at LW is that you can't actually see much by way of landmarks since you're mainly looking up at mud, so the GPS may pay dividends. For local info (and excellent Shepheard Neame), ask almost any wizened character in The Anchor near Standard Quay.

I am about to show my age. In 1973 my then girlfriend and I were trying to get our 18ft sloop up to Faversham and had got stuck at that point when we were passed by the six hundred ton coastal tanker "BP Haulier" going up the creek stern first!

Just how inadequate can a yachtsman be made to feel!

I would suggest starting early on the tide and taking things steadily rather than doing a dinghy recce, because there are so few useful marks.

I wouldn't be optimistic. There's very little water at low tide, and there will be a LOT of mud between you and solid ground once you do get there.

It's a great place to visit later in the tide though!

Not at low tide. Will you be dinghying up from a buoy at Harty Ferry, that would be easiest. go up with the first flood, then you will be able to see the channel, but won't get stuck in the sludge. And you will be able to hop off at IW or carry on up for pint or shopping in Favs,Tesco 1 min from town quay. Then dinghy back down, with the ebb, don't leave it too late!

Nearly made it :) Outboard hit bottom just before the circular tank - sewage works? Will give another dinghy go later.

Annnoyingly can't get track off the gps (garmin76)

Ta all

You might float if you are a seagull.

That's my boat usually the boat nearest the bridge .,with only one mast up .Jerrytug having some work done on the mast of Yeti that month, too.
On a good spring tide we have 7 ft alongside the quay outside the Sail Loft .
You just have to make sure coming up that the keel is in that 8 ft wide ditch in the middle .:).
