Dinghy Storage and Launch facilities on the Crouch

I have never sailed an enterprise & they are very common so should be readily available. However, I was always told that, whilst rewarding to sail once one got the hang of them, they are a bit tippy & not a total beginner's dinghy, if not being sailed without tuition.
Perhaps an Enterprise sailor might comment.
They were specifically designed for inland waterways in terms of their canvas so in coastal areas where there is more wind they can be over canvassed and therefore bit of a handful. And quite exciting as they plane well in these conditions.

OK so a person turns up for an interview to join a club & says. I do not want to join in with club activities I am not interested in what you lot do. I do not want to help do any work to maintain the club.I am not interested in the social aspects. I do not want to do any racing etc. I MAY well expect the services of your safety boat when I get in trouble. I just want to dump my boat in the dinghy park, I will not be cutting the grass around my boat- someone else can. I will use the facilities & b..ger off when I want.
How would you feel about having him/her as a member?
If anyone actually came out with that attitude i suspect most clubs would turn the applicant down & rightly so.

Many clubs suffer from the modern attitude we call it the David loyd gym approach, Often people join a club with no knowledge of what makes such a place work. They expect to just turn up do their thing throw their towel in the bin & go home. If a club doesnt have enough volunteers it cant function.

For the record, I have been a member, committee member, secretary, RO, safety boat cover etc at different clubs over the past fifty years. The fact some people don't want to be active in a club has never bothered me provided they do their duties.

It shouldnt be about "duties". At Benfleet all we ask is two morning working parties a year, you meet other like minded people. Some you will like & get on with, some you might not.
But it is a club, volunteers built it & they run it. All who join should be able to offer something to the club, its about belonging to something worthwhile. If you cant see that go & get your wallet emptied by the boatyard or marina.

Well is that not a "duty" if you expect them to turn up twice a year?

Does it have to be the Crouch?
The Blackwater sailing club is very friendly and has lots of dinghies you can try as a member.
They have a Friday morning group for beginners and those that want to have a go.
The Blackwater is much more interesting than the Crouch for exploring.
Used to sail the Crouch but moved to the Blackwater for that reason.
